Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Renbi, available at renbi.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Renbi is operated by Chansa Kabwe, sole proprietor, based in Zambia.

2. Description of Service

Renbi is an AI-powered Japanese conversation practice platform. The Service provides voice and text conversation with AI characters, along with post-conversation feedback on language usage. Renbi is a practice tool, not a certified language school or accredited educational institution.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Renbi.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us at hello@renbi.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Renbi's monthly subscription is $19/month, billed in advance and renewing automatically on the same date each month until you cancel. Subscriptions are processed by our third-party payment processor, who acts as our Merchant of Record. You may cancel at any time from your account settings; you retain access through the end of the paid period. See our Refund Policy for refund details.

6. Fair Use

Paid subscriptions are fair-use unlimited with a soft cap of 40 hours of conversation per month and a hard cap of 80 hours per month. We reserve the right to throttle or suspend automated, abusive, or commercially exploitative use.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service unlawfully, scrape or extract prompts or model behavior, share credentials, attempt to bypass rate-limits, or generate content that is harmful, abusive, sexually explicit, defamatory, or illegal.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, AI characters, prompts, design, and content are property of Renbi. Your conversation transcripts belong to you. We may use anonymized, aggregated data to improve the Service. We do not use your conversation data to train AI models.

9. AI Disclaimer and Content Safeguards

Renbi uses third-party AI services to power the conversation experience. AI-generated content may contain errors or unnatural language and should not be treated as professional translation, certified language instruction, or any other form of expert advice.

Yuki and any future Renbi characters are fictional and not based on any real person. All Renbi character voices are generic synthetic text-to-speech outputs, not cloned from any human voice. We do not use, train on, or attempt to reproduce the voice or likeness of any identifiable person.

Renbi enforces the following constraints in production via locked system prompts and provider-level safeguards. These are non-negotiable properties of the Service:

  • No NSFW, romantic, or sexual content. The system prompt refuses and redirects.
  • No impersonation of real people, public figures, or celebrities.
  • No deepfake or voice-cloning output. Voices are generic synthetic TTS.
  • No content involving minors in inappropriate contexts.
  • No medical, legal, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice.
  • No political or religious advocacy.
  • No companion, romantic-partner, or social-matching framing. Renbi is a language-education product, not a relationship simulator.
  • No training on user data. We do not fine-tune, evaluate, or otherwise use customer conversations to train any AI model.

User audio is processed only to produce a transcript of the conversation and is discarded shortly after. Transcripts are stored only so you can review your own sessions and so we can generate your post-conversation feedback.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time by emailing hello@renbi.app.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI outputs will be accurate or appropriate for any particular purpose.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Renbi's aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid Renbi in the twelve months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Renbi and its operator from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

14. Modifications to and Availability of the Service

We may add to, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including features, AI characters, and usage limits. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service, although where a change is material we will give reasonable notice where practicable.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. You agree that the courts located in Zambia have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

16. General Provisions

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Renbi regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements. Our failure to enforce any right or provision will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We may provide notices to you by email or by posting them on the Service.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or on this page at least 14 days before they take effect.
